TV Stories from Around the Net
While I was out of commission yesterday and blogger was failing to publish my previously written posts, I missed out on some good links. Therefore, today's edition of the "news" will feature articles from the last two days.
- To start the proceedings, here's a quick review of Tuesday night's Louie from Alan Sepinwall at HitFix. Pretty much agree with this one as well but don't really care that C.K. used Southern stereotypes, more just that his use of them wasn't that funny. Still, it's a good show that you should check out if you haven't already.
- Next on the agenda, a very generous review of last night's Top Chef courtesy of Scott Tobias at the AV Club. As of now I can't get behind any of the participants on this season's permutation of the show. They lack the collective talent and teamwork that has been so enjoyable to watch develop over the previous six seasons. Hopefully things pick up, but now that we're almost half-way through the season, I doubt it.
- Keeping with the reality show theme of the previous bullet point, it was announced yesterday that Jimmy Johnson (NFL version, not NASCAR) will be participating on the next season of Survivor! Though I was very late to the Survivor party, I've found the last two seasons to be thoroughly entertaining. I can only imagine what sort of relationship a 67-year-old Superbowl Champion can have with the 20 and 30 somethings that usually populate the show.
- Big Brother 12 aired its weekly Power-of-Veto episode last night with Britney taking herself off the block, and Rachel replacing her with Matt. I hate to admit that I'm a fan of such trash television, but there's something about this show that draws me in every summer. This year I've also discovered the perverse beauty that is the (free at the following link) Live Feeds of the house. Something fun to have on in the background and actually reveals a great deal of behind the scenes happenings that never make it to the main show.
- Olivia Munn (gratuitously pictured above) will be guest starring on the season premiere of Chuck this fall. She seems to be one of the big Hollywood "It" girls at the moment starring on Attack of the Show, corresponding for The Daily Show, and being named in the Top Ten of Maxim's "Hot 100," so I'm interested to see how she does playing a fellow spy. Hopefully she will get a recurring role, allowing me to post more photos of her.
- Finally, if you were wondering what show could be so amazing that it forced NBC to move Parks and Recreation back to the mid-season, then wonder no longer as NBC's Outsourced pilot is making the rounds and reviews are rolling in. I will urge every reader I have, all ten of you or so, to please not watch this show. Tell your friends to not watch it. Alert your school, work, and church bulletins to plead for people not to watch it. I don't much care for how it's reviewed. It's replacing Parks and Recreation; therefore, it must fail.
